: Effective, Ethical Marketing For AttorneysAlways be Punctual
By Ben Glass
In a previous blog post, Time to Throw Away Your To-Do List, I discussed the importance of setting aside blocked amounts of time to complete you daily tasks, meaning you create a to-do list that has a beginning and end time for each item. This technique is what I refer to, as "block-and-clock." There is a main component of this technique that you need to be aware of, if you want it to work for you - it's punctuality.
When you assign specific beginning and ending times for the things you have to get done each day, if you do not commit to the times you have set, then it is not going to work. You have to be punctual, whether that means getting to a meeting on time, dialing into a conference call or honoring your own time that is set aside for your projects.
I am relentless about my time and am not very tolerant of people who are not punctual. My experience with time management has taught me that you have to guard your time and measure your day, if you want to fit everything in that has to be done. When you are late, you throw off your schedule and you risk not completing your daily to-dos.
For more time management tips, check out my program, Militant Time Management for Lawyers. It will provide you with information on how to get more done than your competitors and how to enjoy your life.
