By Michael C. Smith

ADVERTISEMENTS

U.S. Ethernet Innovations, LLC v. Acer, Inc. et al, 6:09cv448 (E.D. Tex., April 7, 2010)

Magistrate Judge John D. Love    2010-04-07

Holding: Ruling on Partially Agreed Motion for Entry of Discovery and Docket
Control Orders

Judge Love's order resolving the parties' disputes as to their discovery and docket control orders includes "some global comments as to the direction of discovery practice in this district" with regard to multi-defendant and multi-patent cases, specifically with respect to the number of deposition hours needed to bring these cases to trial.  Although the numbers of hours requested is not noted, Judge Love decided on an initial limit of 150 hours per side for all depos except experts, observing that both sides had asked for "significantly more" time than this, and set forth the procedure for asking for additional time if needed.
