Former
federal prosecutor Sanjay Bhandari joined Sidley Austin's Los Angeles office as a partner.
Bhandari, who was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of California, will continue to focus on white collar crime, internal investigations and securities enforcement matters.
Bhandari prosecuted the largest bribery case against a sitting U.S. Congressman, leading to the conviction of former Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham and his four main conspirators for over $2 million in bribes. He also prosecuted the two largest securities fraud cases in the Southern District of California. Before his work as a federal prosecutor, Bhandari was an enforcement attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission focusing on accounting fraud.
