The market for mediators and arbitrators just added another star to its sky with the announcement that former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Jane Cutler Greenspan is joining the Philadelphia office of JAMS.
Greenspan had served for two decades on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas when she was tapped in 2008 by Gov. Edward Rendell to fill an interim seat on the state Supreme Court.
Rendell was also Greenspan's first boss. When he was serving as Philadelphia's district attorney in 1978, he promoted Greenspan to chief of the rape and domestic violence unit. Two years later, she was promoted to chief of the office's appellate unit, a post she held until 1987.
Greenspan has also served as chairwoman of the Supreme Court's criminal procedural, Orphans' Court and appellate court rules committees.
At JAMS, Greenspan will work from the Philadelphia Resolution Center where she will specialize as a mediator, arbitrator and discovery master for disputes in a variety of areas including appellate, business commercial, class action, insurance, personal injury, and real property.
JAMS President and CEO Chris Poole said Greenspan "will bring to her work at JAMS the deep perspective of a long and distinguished legal career."
