Never Rely On An Attorney To Tell You To See A Doctor Or Not

By Ben Glass

ADVERTISEMENTS

Many clients who come into my office, who have been injured in an accident in Virginia, will ask me if they should see a doctor or not. Sometimes, they will even ask me which doctor to visit.

Want to know my answer to these questions?

'Never rely on an attorney to tell you whether you should see a doctor or which doctor to see.'

It is up to you to determine if your injuries from the car accident justify seeking medical attention. If you are unsure about your motives for getting medical treatment, ask yourself whether you would see a doctor if the accident was solely your fault. Answering "no" to this question would indicate that you probably shouldn't go to the doctor just because the crash was the other person's fault.

If you make the decision to get checked out by a physician, you need to keep in mind that the medical provider you choose will play an important role after your Virginia car accident. You need to select a doctor who is best qualified to treat your injury. Your doctor will be the one to recommend the treatment that will help you achieve maximum recovery, while minimizing the time to recoup.

Once your doctor has put together a treatment plan, you need to follow through with it. If you don't and it takes longer to recover, then guess what will happen? The insurance company will blame you or argue that you weren't hurt that bad; otherwise, you wouldn't have missed appointments and would have gotten the necessary medical treatment.
