One Great Day

Yesterday was crazy. I held it together all day along.

I wore clothes and ate at normal times. Kristin came over to visit. We gave the baby a successful bath and Becca smiled and cooed like crazy at Kristin, which is not fair, because I have to work all day for that much baby conversation, but it was very cute. I finished my Record article and did email while the baby slept in the Moby wrap, and even called and got new, awesome research assignments for my clinical. I watched CNN and cuddled my girl.

Then things got tricky. I had an appointment with a professor at 6:30, but Dan was unexpectedly stuck at work and wouldn't be home in time to let me get to school. I thought about canceling, but instead, packed up the baby and drove to school, willing her to SLEEP.

It worked. With the sunroof of her carseat/stroller pulled up to block the rain, we made it to the appointment on time, and she slept and looked around quietly while I got my paper outlined. We even put in a nice appearance at the public interest potluck, where Dan caught up with us, and we all went home happy. At home, we snacked on pita, hummus, and cucumber while watching more election coverage, I edited articles, and we made faces at the delighted baby. And then Becca started her 9 pm fuss-o-rama. But I didn't even mind. I got a few things done, I left the house, no one got poop on them (just spit-up), and I felt like a member of the world. I am documenting it for posterity.
