Donate to Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund

You can now text ?Haiti? to 90999 if you are a Sprint user to donate $10 to the red Cross for Haiti earthquake relief.  At one time, the phone companies were getting 1,000 texts per second.  So far these and similar donations made through cell phones have raised 10 million dollars.  ?The donation is charged to a user’s cell phone bill.  The American Red Cross said that of the $37 million it has raised for Haitian relief efforts, more than $8 million has come via mobile phone users.  “It’s unprecedented that we’ve received this amount,” said Nadia Pontif, a spokeswoman for the Red Cross.   The giving is also being fueled by the popularity of websites like Facebook, where users are urging one another to make donations easily using cellphones.?
