Texas Execution

Texas carried out its first execution of 2010, last night in Huntsville.  It was the 448th Texas execution since 1982.  Texas has far and away the most active death chamber in America, accounting for more than 37% of the nation's post-Furman executions.  Sherry Jacobsen has this report on the execution of Kenneth Mosley in today's Dallas Morning News.Two other states also carried out their first executions of 2010 on Thursday.  Earlier in the day, Ohio executed Vernon Smith.  AP's Julie Carr Smyth reports, "Experts debate Ohio's 1-drug lethal injection," via MSNBC.  It was the second execution the state has carried out using the single drug.Another successful execution using a lethal injection of just one drug instead of the traditional three has fueled debate over whether the state's unique approach should be adopted elsewhere...continue to full post
