A change

By Paul

ADVERTISEMENTS

I have been running this blog in one form or another for about as long as I have been running my firm and I think it is time for a change. There are a couple reasons. One reason is that I just don’t have much time to update this blog as often as I would like because I have been so busy lately.

Another reason is that my workflows have shifted a bit in the last month or so. I was appointed as General Counsel and Company Secretary to iCommons, the non-profit I have been doing some work for since around July 2007. I am very excited about the position and there is a fortune of work involved. The position is a part time position so my practice continues despite this new opportunity. I have decided to focus my efforts on my existing clients rather than continue to grow my practice and risk not being able to dedicate enough time to these clients, many of which have been with me since I hung out my shingle in August 2005.

This blog was intended largely as a marketing tool to promote my practice and grow it. This isn’t necessary now. This isn’t to say my doors are closed entirely, they aren’t. I will, however, only be taking on new clients on a case by case basis as and when I have capacity to assist them. There is really no good reason to take on work I can’t do properly so I really wouldn’t want to do that. I may also be working in an exciting new space in the coming months so I will have even less extra time available, but more on that if that materialises.

I have also found that I have way too many blogs on the go and have been thinking about ways to consolidate my various blogs in some way. Some of you may or may not know that I have been running a blog called Wired Gecko since about December 2004. That blog’s focus has shifted over the years and it started to make sense to change that blog too. That blog has since become a tumblelog and its content shifted across to a new personal blog at blog.jacobson.co.za. The next stage was to merge the content from this blog with the old Wired Gecko content and create a consolidated personal blog which I will use to express my thoughts and views on life, law and other stuff.

The Wired Gecko content contains some of my more offbeat posts so it isn’t appropriate to merge that content into a blog intended to be an expression of this firm so I have decided to rather close off this blog and replace it with a more traditional and static website with information about my firm.

Bottom line, there are changes afoot. Take a look at my new blog at blog.jacobson.co.za and see if that interests you. If so, feel free to subscribe or bookmark it. If this isn’t for you, thank you for spending time on this blog till now. Your visits have been much appreciated.
