The Year In Great Big California Verdicts

    Today's Legal Pad reports on 2009's ten biggest  California verdicts.  My analysis of the verdicts doesn?t match Legal Pad?s in all respects ? in several of them, I see the net amounts as being much higher.  An image of a table with the verdicts and case information is right below, and if you have trouble reading it, you can download the table here. 

Toptenverdicts

     A couple of things are interesting here.  First, only four of the cases are personal injury cases.  Second, as far as can be determined, only three of the verdicts included punitive damages. And finally, if we accept the definition of "blockbuster punitive damages awards" discussed here recently, there wasn't a single blockbuster in the bunch.
