California Supreme Court gets it right in the much-awaited Costco case

Opinion here.  News account here.  The trial court had a referee review a privileged opinion letter line by line to see which portions should remain privileged.  Many of us in California wondered how the lower courts could err so badly, but all's well that ends well.  (Btw, this is being drafted and posted as we begin our initial descent into JFK.  Mid-air access to the internet will make long flights a great place to get work done.)
