  1. Results for the San Marcos Solo Race are up here.  Not shown is my previous best time of 3h6min that I achieved in a much slower boat.  There were two factors:  the river was flowing a lot higher and faster before and I spent a lot of time swimming this time around.  You never know just how much time you lost by portaging or falling out of the boat.  It always feels longer than it is, I think.  I could have lost as much as 20 minutes.  I thought I'd done a lot better than I actually did.  Goes to show that I've got a long way to go before I'm fast.
  2. Went to only the second NFL game I've ever been to yesterday.  Texans vs. Buccaneers.  I'm usually down on the NFL because it's so commercialized etc., but the game was actually pretty fun.  The three 16oz beers probably helped.  (Sidenote:  they had an NFL alumni type event at the game with a bunch of former Oilers.  Former Oilers standout receiver Haywood Jeffires was sitting in the lounge at our section.)
  3. Only 15 shopping days left until Christmas.  Getting lists from everyone sure makes things easier, but it also feels like cheating.  I've gotten about 30% of my shopping done so far.
  4. Raking leaves is a shitty job.  I need a teenager.  We filled up ten of those paper leaf bags yesterday.
  5. Practice of law continues to be good days and bad days.  Never have I gotten so far by doing so little and at the same time gotten nowhere by doing so much.  It's weird like that.
