The following is excerpted from a September 22, 2009 GPC press release:
General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, has announced today on behalf of its client, ShopNTown, LLC, that a settlement has been reached in patent infringement litigation between ShopNTown and Landmark Media Enterprises, LLC (Landmark), a diversified media and communications company headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. General Patent, which represents ShopNTown as its exclusive licensing agent, was involved with the negotiations of the settlement agreement.
ShopNTown, an e-commerce company based in Lombard, Illinois, owns US Patent No. 6,968,513 titled ?On-Line Localized Business Referral System and Revenue Generation System.? With the assistance of General Patent, ShopNTown brought a lawsuit for patent infringement against Landmark in November of 2008 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (Civil Action No. 2:08-cv-00564). GPC negotiated a settlement agreement on behalf of ShopNTown under which Landmark and its affiliates received a license to the ShopNTown patent. Terms of the agreement remain confidential.
ShopNTown was represented by the law firm Proskauer Rose LLP in the lawsuit.
