Ammonia Leak at Salami Plant Injures 24

ADVERTISEMENTS
An ammonia leak at a salami plant in South San Francisco early Friday morning has been contained, but not before 24 people working at the plant received medical care for personal injury. Emergency personnel at the scene treated 16 people, and a further 8 were taken to local hospitals. The chemical that leaked, anhydrous ammonia, is used as a refrigerant at the plant.
