To Tan or Not To Tan?

ADVERTISEMENTS
Forget the Barzam for the moment, in 5 weeks I'll be relaxing with Fashionista on a beautiful white sand beach in Tulum, Mexico, with one drink in each hand. I simply cannot wait! However, seeing as how I've been cooped up inside since the end of May studying for the bar, and I'm pretty fair skinned, I look like like snowman. When I manage to get sun I tan pretty nicely, and I'd like to have a little color before heading south of the border, but I'm going to be inside until July 29 and then that just leaves a week to get in some sun time before I leave on vacay. I know that tanning beds aren't exactly safe ("cancer coffins"). However, I also know that tanning outside really isn't much safer, so if indoor tanning is a quick way to get the result then I'm more than willing.

So, question for any of you out there with knowledge, should I splurge for some indoor tanning? What about the salon spray tan options? I don't want to be orange or streaky, and I don't want to look baked, but I'd also not like to be the only albino on the Mexican beach in August. Also, for those of you who have done the indoor tanning thing recently, are the fancy lotions they are always trying to push at those salons worth it? Do they really work? Thanks for the help :)
