The Arizona State Legislature

By Amy Levine

ADVERTISEMENTS

As well as all the ASU students returning for second semester, the Arizona Legislature returns for the start of the second session of the forty-eighth legislature today. Included on the legislature?s website is information about the Senate, the House, bills, committees, the Administrative Code and the Arizona Revised Statutes.

The Arizona Senate can be accessed from a link under the blue ?Senate? tile on the legislature?s homepage and the House from the ?House? tile. Both of these sites provide information about the individual houses and legislators as well as the legislature as a whole.

The Administrative Code can be browsed or sections can be downloaded for free. The Arizona Revised Statutes (without annotations) can be accessed. The statutes are searchable or the table of contents can be browsed, titles opened and sections read. If you are interested in legislative history, you can change the session and search the session laws. To change to a particular legislative session use the pull-down menu available from the link near the middle of the page. There are also links to ?sections affected? by new legislation. There is a link to the Arizona Constitution as well.

The website includes links to other Arizona offices, including the Governor?s and Secretary of State?s offices, and to the official website of the State of Arizona. A link is provided to Arizona agencies from Arizona @ Your Service, under the blue ?Executive? tile on the homepage.

There is a link to view and hear live meetings or archived video directly from the homepage too. Press releases are available, divided into groups by house and political party. Check out other links by exploring the site map.
