Did Anyone Ask Your Opinion?

ADVERTISEMENTS
Behold, my Save-The-Dates: Of course mine don't look exactly like that because I changed the font, did thermography instead of flat print, only used chocolate brown ink, changed the envelope liner to chocolate brown, put in my own information, took out the palm tree, added a fleur-de-lis on the 3rd page, and did not write a cutesy note to my guests. Page 1 is the typical "Save The Date for the wedding of" info, page 2 is our hotel information and wedding website with further details, and page 3 is the crucial page of information, namely, the Atlanta airport is not a good choice to fly into unless you are hoping for a 4 to 5 hour drive after you land.  Also because we have a lot of families coming that are employees of a certain airline (cough cough) that only flies into Jacksonville, Florida instead of Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and Jacksonville is only two hours away- significantly better than, oh, the Atlanta airport.

Yeah. Don't think people haven't tried to buy tickets to Atlanta and are so incredibly happy when my Dad tells them that might not be the most expedient route.

Anyway, the save-the-dates arrived ((I simply cannot call them the STD's as some do) and I'm in love with them. I think they turned out quite nicely. The paper is thick, the thermography is gorgeous, and I love the fonts. Now I just have to sit down and address all 148 of them (no, I haven't counted, why do you ask?) and I figured I should probably get some appropriate pens. Namely not my typical flare felt tip red or blue pen, and seeing as how they were printed in chocolate brown, I figured I should use a brown ink pen. Perahps a gel-pen.

This pen of course is more elusive than the Lochness Monster. (True Story: My Dad once flew a mission over the loch's to look for old Nelly, orders of the US Government. He didn't find her so he came home. End story.) After running around all day trying to find a pen or five, I finally succumbed to the Armitage corridor in Chicago which houses two of my favorite fine stationary stores, Paper Source and All She Wrote. I try to avoid said stores because I could easily spend an entire paycheck there on lettepress note cards and Snow and Graham stationary. What can I say? (You might be wondering why I didn't buy any at the store I bought my save-the-dates from. An equally lovely store which I'm sure carries pens...but I forgot, ok? And I sent BISMOW to pick up the save-the-dates and frankly the last thing on his mind was the appropriate writing utensil to address them.) Anyway I gave up after going to four other stores, I went into All She Wrote and I bought 3 pens of the appropriate nature.

I didn't buy the pens before I stopped at Party City (I was getting desperate) and had to ask a clerk with 3 inch long lime-green finger nails (and an odd male-pattern-baldness problem considering she was about 16 years old) if they carried any pens like the ones I wanted. I told her what I was looking for, brown ink pen of the non-marker or Sharpie variety, and while she blankly asked me if I meant a pen that I could write in numerous colors with (um, no...) the lady in line next to me puffed herself up and loudly turned to me clicking her tongue and saying "Brown, non marker pen? Preferably chocolate or dark brown? Awfully picky bridezilla...." and then turned back to scrounging around in her ugly purse for her cell phone.

Bridezilla?

Seriously?

Me?

Yeah, I didn't know what to say either so I just left, but only after spending $4.78 because obviously I needed some tissue paper. Obviously.
