Nursing Home Negligence Lawsuit Reaches Settlement

By Levin & Perconti

ADVERTISEMENTS

After almost four years the families of the 23 nursing home residents who died in a fiery bus while evacuating from Hurricane Rita have reached a negligence settlement with the nursing home company. The families have reached a settlement from the nursing home negligence settlement that reaches $80 million. In the chaotic week leading up to Hurricane Rita, Brighton Gardens quickly ordered buses for its residents and staff so they could evacuate to a sister facility in another city. On the way to the city, the bus caught fire and 23 residents wrongfully died. The families had claimed that the nursing home?s corporate parent and its bus broker failed to screen the coach company before contracting with them and used a bus that was unsafe. Since nursing homes are responsible for the safety of their residents, it was their duty to find safe transportation. To read more about the nursing home lawsuit settlement, please click here.
