Tee-Ball

ADVERTISEMENTS
Today was Clownfish's first tee-ball game of 2009 (as opposed to practice):

If this post looks familiar, see last year's post.

  • Player #5 hit the ball and ran toward third.
  • Player #7's dad grabbed his son's hand and ran down the baseline with him. It was absolutely the only way that kid was getting anywhere near first base.
  • Player #14 (oh that would be Clownfish) gets to play first base, because he has finally stopped playing with the infield dirt. Woo!
  • Player #14 catches the ball thrown by Player #13 and throws it home. Ummm, he's still working on the 'tagging the bag' part.
  • Player #14 tags the bag before throwing home!!
  • Switch: Blue Team heads to the dug out. Three Blue kids continue to stand there, hands on knees, "ready," as the Green Team takes the field and the coaches position the Green kids. Someone finally goes out and bodily carries the Blue kids to the dugout.
  • Blue team at bat.
  • Player #3 hit the ball and proceeded to run at and tackle the kid standing on the pitcher's mound. Made me think of Sumo for some reason.
  • It appeared that three Green players began playing 'chase the butterflies' in the outfield.
  • I stop into the dugout to congratulate Player #14 on a good job fielding.
  • "Thank you. Go away mommy."
  • Ouch.
  • Huh. Most of our kids know how to hit the ball and run to the right base. Well, this is much less entertaining.
  • Blue team back in the field.
  • Player #14 surrenders his post at first and takes up an in-field spot.
  • Player #14 avoids crashing into a smaller kid while chasing down a ball, allows smaller kid to throw it to first.
  • This happens a few times. Damn, I have a good kid.
  • Post-game ice cream and I didn't have to hip check anyone.
