Total Recall

ADVERTISEMENTS

I was going to post about something to do with banks and/or law and/or lawyers tonight, but following hard on the heels of President Obama's press conference this evening was the following brief announcement by the US Treasury Department that all US currency was toxic and was being recalled. The more I thought about it, it seemed to be the ultimate governmental clawback, a  logical final step in a course of increasingly intrusive steps taken by a federal government that seems bound to suck the marrow out of our bones, the grey matter out of our skulls, and the oxygen out of the atmosphere. I would also have said that it wants to suck the souls from our being, but whether or not a human person actually has a soul, and whether or not the metaphysical idea of "Being" is or is not is a valid one, are questions that are above my pay grade.

Thus, instead of blogging, I decided to do something much more enjoyable and decidedly less dangerous than blogging: drinking a 12-pack of Shiner Bock and going quail hunting with Dick Cheney.
