ADVERTISEMENTS
(Why yes I did notice a cease & desist letter from the one & only Mr. Namby Pamby Attorney At Law, and yes, I'll be responding shortly. Muahahaha. ) A few weeks ago I suggested a genius blog-tweet-meet up. This of course was a brilliant idea that would blossom life long friendships & rainbows and butterflies. Y'all would thank me and put me in your wills. We'd chow down on some Five Guys burgers and talk about how the olden days were just so darn old and we'd compliment each other's blog layouts.
Then of course some of my IRL (in real life) friends approached me with some concern. It seemed they were not sure that this "meet up" was such a great idea. I scoffed at them and told them I had ninja skills. Besides, only a few people were coming and they commented all the time and I read their blogs and they were totally normal people. My friends persisted and I reminded them that I own seersucker and a great multitude of Southern charm. Then a few of them pointed out that maybe it wasn't the people who had "RSVP'd" but some creepy lurker/reader/troll who spied on us and followed one of us home and chopped us up into bits.
Insert the laughter of Daisy here followed by an eye rolling.
Then the Craigslist killer, a second year medical student was arrested for allegedly (You happy Alleged Lady?? He had their panties for goodness sakes!) hacking up and robbing some professional "masseurs" (also known as code word for a professional woman, cough cough) and my friends all gave me the look. It seems I'd been out proven. Or smarted. Or whatever. It seemed that my theory that the internet is mostly puppies & happiness was proven wrong by some creepy dude whose old lab partners are totally willing to tell Perez Hilton how weird he was during Anatomy 101.
And so with great sadness I cancel The Great Blog Meet-Up of 2009. I realize now the chances of having you name your children Daisy for me are slim, but I hope y'all will forgive me. There are a few of you who I do correspond with pretty regularly and I think we can discuss our own personal meet-up complete with neutral (armed) parties for both sides to ensure our collective safety from the weirdos and the paparazzi. In the meantime, you will have to continue wondering if the charming blonde girl you saw at the grocery store comparing one natural counter cleaner to the other was me. (Hint: If she was carrying a large bag that was properly filled with the necessities for any occasion be it wind, rain, snow or a snagged pair of stockings, it was probably me. Or if her laundry basket contained yogurt, because seriously, where does that stuff disappear to??)
