How much homework are kids really getting?

ADVERTISEMENTS

BoardBuzz wasn’t big fan of homework back in school, but how much homework are American students getting in elementary school? Do minority students receive more homework then their white classmates? These are just some of the questions answered by a recent U.S. Department of Education report on homework.

The report is just chock full of data which, BoardBuzz just doesn’t have the time to skim through. Thankfully, our friends over that the Center for Public Education have summarized the important findings here. BoardBuzz wasn’t surprised to learn that as students move up in grade, they are assigned more and more homework, But we were surprised that minority students are given more homework than their white peers.

If you’re looking for more information on homework, BoardBuzz recommends you check out the Center’s What research says about the value of homework. It provides all the information you need to know about the benefits of homework and how much students should be assigned.
