Do You Go To A "Mormon Friendly" Law School?

By Chuck Newton

ADVERTISEMENTS

Do not get me wrong.  I think it is fine that a law school is "Mormon friendly", provided that it is not antagonistic toward other groups.  Given the number of Catholic law school in this country, how could I complain.  I will point out, however, that Catholic law schools are typically private law schools.  There might be some study of Catholic or Jewish or Baptist friendly law schools, but I have not seen such a report.

As reported by the Mormon Times and Mormon Lawyers, The University of Nevada, Las Vegas - William S. Boyd School of Law tops the list.

I know what you are thinking, but for obvious reasons the powers that be on this list left Brigham Young University and the University of Utah out of the consideration.

Law079 Specific data was compiled from more than 50 national universities. The list took into consideration a broad range of criteria, including: the number of Mormon law students attending the school, what percentage of the student body they represent, and how close the nearest Mormon temple is. Other measurable factors were cost of living, tuition and the Bar-exam passage rate.

The list is as follows:

1.    University of Nevada, Las Vegas - William S. Boyd School of Law

2.    Arizona State University - Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law

3.    University of Idaho School of Law

4.    University of Michigan Law School

5.    Texas Tech University School of Law

6.    University of Minnesota Law School

7.    University of Nebraska College of Law

8.    Gonzaga University School of Law

9.    George Washington University School of Law

10.  Willamette University College of Law
