: China HearsayFriday Photos ? Houhai
By Stan
To balance out that boring/esoteric post on the global reserve currency debate, here are some photos taken last night at Houhai. For the uninitiated, Houhai is a lake in the central part of Beijing that was developed several years ago. It now has a large number of bars and restaurants surrounding the water and is a great spot, particularly when the weather heats up.
Business seemed to be pretty good for a Wednesday evening, and the usual crowd of foreign tourists and young people were in attendance. We hit two restaurants (these first two photos are not mine):
Baodu Zhang (???), a restaurant known for cow stomach lining (I hear it’s delicious). It’s been there, and in the same family, since 1883.
Hutong Pizza — this one was for me. One of my favorite pizza joints in Beijing.
Here are a few pics of the Houhai scenery at night. I think the first three, the low res ones, were taken with my iPhone.
Have a good weekend!
