: Legal Pad | LALA firms make impressive showing in NLJ's Appellate Hot List

The National Law Journal asked its readers to nominate firms with stellar records in
appellate advocacy. Dozens of nominations poured in for firms that really have been shaking things
up. Firms that scored at least one significant appellate
win since February 2007, plus an impressive legacy overall, were considered. The firms that made the Appellate Hot List contributed in meaningful ways to the
most important appeals of the year, whether through drafting the main
briefs, presenting oral arguments or as friends of the court.
Among the honorees are Los Angeles-based firms Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Irell & Manella; and O'Melveny & Myers. Other firms with noteworthy California appellate cases are Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Jones Day; and Paul Hastings.
