Bush To Slash PBS Funding

Spublicbroadcastinghalvedlarge It is fair to say that Bush and his ilk have been gunning for PBS since they got there.  Now it is reported that President Bush is seeking in his 2009 budget to cut Public Television funding in half.  PBS says that this would seriously impair station operations.  But, I think that is Bush's objective.  Under the Bush plan PBS would lose $420 million of the $820 million it was set to receive over the next two years.  Also, the White House does not include advance funding for the 2011 fiscal year.  This is important because PBS is usually financed three years ahead of time to insulate the system from politics.  I guess the point is that they do not want to insulate it from politics.

I have got to tell you that I very much enjoy the quality programing that PBS brings to my home.  I was watch it tonight.  Some of the most honest and balanced political reporting comes from the station, but most of it is not overtly abut politics.

Who in the hell made this guy president?  Oh yeah, that's right, Scallia did.
