$1.25 Million Settlement for 7 year old boys death at amusement park in Westchester, NY

By Oguz Ozdemir

ADVERTISEMENTS

At the Playland Park in Westchester NY, Jon-Kely Cassara ultimately died on the Ye Old Mill ride back in 2005. Cassara, a seven year old boy who was visiting the park with his family, got out of the ride/boat and fell under which led to him drowning. The case was settled as a dangerous premise case on March 23, 2009. Playland director Joseph Monalto, the only witness of the accident, testified that he would have not let Cassara ride the Ye Old Mill ride if he would have known that ill trained workers were operating the ride on that fateful day. After Monalto's testimony the Westchester County offered the $1.24 million dollar settlement to the Cassara family. The settlement only awaits the approval by the Westchester County Board of Legislators, which will need to vote on the matter later in the week. If the settlement is not approaved the Cassara family and their lawyers are dedicated to their son and play on re trying the case if not successful at this juncture. This is the 3rd death at Rye Playland in the past 5 years as the threat of these dangerous rides takes a hold how far are we going to let them go? If you or a loved one has been harmed or killed in a tragic accident at the fault of someone else, please contact super lawyers Napoli Bern Ripka, LLP. They will be able to assess your case and determine the proper steps needed to obtain justice for you and your family.
