No Smell - No Badge

By Webmaid

ADVERTISEMENTS

That’s the ruling from a Pennsylvania appeals court.

The court has ruled a suburban Pittsburgh township had the right to can police officer David Agostino, who lost his job after losing his sense of smell.

The three-judge panel noted that police officers must be able to get a whiff of drugs, alcohol, natural gas and other substances. The judges said Agostino suffered from a physical disability making him unfit for duty.

He lost his sense of smell following an off-duty motorcycle accident. Agostino and his lawyers haven’t decided yet if they’ll raise a stink over the smell issue with an appeal.
