Quinn Emanuel move entrepreneurial conditions eastward to Chicago

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, a Los Angeles-based business litigation law firm with about 400 lawyers, has quietly set up shop in Chicago, creating an office of six attorneys this month following the hiring of a new Chicago partner last month.

Quinn Emanuel this month hired five associates away from Latham & Watkins' Chicago office after bringing on patent litigator David Nelson as a partner in February from that Latham office. The Quinn associates who joined Nelson are Christopher Freeman, Ellen Padilla, Michael Harte, Jennifer Bauer and Tigran Vardanian.

Quinn Emanuel also has offices in New York; San Francisco; Redwood Shores, Calif., in Silicon Valley; Tokyo; and London.
