 Judge HoevelerAnecdotal Update to "The Missed Dis-Justice System".BY NORM KENT:Today (2/5) a young man in Coral Springs, celebrating his 18th birthday, was busted by the CSPD for consuming alcohol as an underage minor.He was brought to the county jail where he will spend the next 14 hours while waiting for a friend to post his $25 bond.Twenty five dollar bond.A high school graduate.Born and Raised in Broward County.Lives at home with his parents.Waiting for Army induction.And he goes to the County jail lockup for celebrating his 18th birthday with some beer.Does not get a notice to appear.And the citizens of our county pay at least $100 bucks to house him for the nite.Maybe we should bill the City of Coral Springs, don't you think?Or maybe we should have the Chief Judge or the Sheriff issue an Executive Order barring the incarceration of young men into the county jail on unworthy municipal ordinance violations which do not threaten the public safety or there is no threat of harm to himself...continue to full post
