Super Tuesday quote of the day

Straight out of a movie: on our way to the polls, we saw a police officer walking down the hall with a young African-American boy. As they passed us, we heard the officer say, "If you keep doing well in school, I don't see why you couldn't be president one day." Boy looks up at him with shining eyes. Fade out. Flash forward: boy completes the presidential oath, shakes hands, looks out at the audience and catches the eye of the officer, now an old man. At least that's how I imagine the rest of the story.

It was K's third time at the polls in his short life (he went once with me and once with Daddy in November). He likes it because the election workers coo over him and tell him how handsome he is. Also, we sing him voting songs.

We were fence-sitters for a while. Clinton, Obama, we like them both. (Richardson, we hardly knew ye.) But I think one of the most important roles of the next president will be to rebuild America's credibility with the rest of the world. Obama is the guy to do that.
