The prosecution team at Los Angeles' district attorney's office has grown significantly more diverse in terms of race and sex. District Attorney Steve Cooley praised the recent hiring statistics that show a transition from the old white guys he started out to the most diverse group of new attorneys, the Associated Press reports. About a third of the office are racial minorities. Whites make up about a third of Los Angeles County, according to 2000 Census. Over the past three years, the D.A.'s office has hired 253 employees - 45 percent were racial minorities and 55 percent were women, according to the Associated Press.
