Law Enforcement Portions of the Stimulus Package

By Corey Rayburnyung

ADVERTISEMENTS
Grits for Breakfast has an excellent post concerning the law enforcement portions of the newly signed stimulus package. The most relevant items for our purposes include "$225 million for Byrne competitive grants," which will be cutback for states that fail to comply with the Adam Walsh Act, and "$50 million for Internet Crimes Against Children initiatives." You can read the complete text of the stimulus bill here. I'm not an economist, but I'm skeptical that either of those provisions will offer any bump to the ailing economy.
