Death Prompts Lawsuit Against Center for Disabled

The family of a mentally disabled Nebraska woman who died while in the care of a state-run center has filed a lawsuit accusing the facility of negligence. According to the lawsuit, bungling by administrative staff at the Beatrice State Developmental Center caused Olivia Manes to die about three hours after suffering a seizure. A Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services previously concluded that Manes? care was mishandled. The lawsuit seeks $1.75 million in damages.
