: Chuck NewtonGoogle's Powermeter
By Chuck Newton
You just have to love Google. More than any tech company they are revolutionizing the way lawyers, and especially Third Wave lawyers, operate, and they are doing it mainly for FREE.
The newest entry is from Google.Org, which is the philanthropic wing of the company. It is called the "PowerMeter", which when placed in use will help households (including home offices) understand their own power use. Google describes it this way: "Google PowerMeter, now in prototype, will receive information from utility smart meters and energy management devices and provide anyone who signs up access to her home electricity consumption right on her iGoogle homepage."
It is all about devising ways of controlling demand for electric power. We mere mortals cannot do this without relevant and free information. And, this is important because lower electric consumption means lower operating costs for our families and our businesses.
