: The Right Side of LifeOklahoma Citizenship Bill Passes Committee
By Phil
Back in December of 2008, I had originally reported where Oklahoma State Rep. Mike Ritze (R-Broken Arrow) had introduced a bill whereby anyone who ran for elected office would have to show proof of US citizenship. Here’s the latest from Stillwater-Newspress.com:
A number of bills already have begun the long process of becoming law since the Oklahoma legislature began session last Monday.
A piece of proposed legislation must pass a House of Representatives or Senate committee before being introduced to the respective legislative body. Once it passes a committee and the whole body, it moves on to a floor vote in the opposite house.
When both chambers pass an identical version of the bill, it goes to Gov. Brad Henry for approval or rejection. It becomes law after the governor signs a bill.
House and Senate committees were busy all week discussing and passing various pieces of legislation at the Capitol in Oklahoma City. …
Mike Ritze, R-Broken Arrow proposed a bill to make local and state political candidates prove citizenship, which also passed committee.
