Goldman Sachs to Repay TARP Funds Early

By Mark H. Astarita, Esq.

While the President's proposal to cap executive comp at $500,000 a year is, IMHO, a seriously misguided attempt to address the financial crisis, it may have some ancillary benefits. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS.N) Chief Financial OfficerDavid Viniar said the bank is keen to avoid restrictions it agreed toafter receiving funds from the U.S. government late last year and it islooking to pay the money back as soon as possible. That's great. Give the American taxpayer back his money, and figure out how to get out of your financial mess on your own. Sounds good to me.Source: Reuters: Goldman Sachs CFO Seeks to Repay TARP Funds.
