: Law Blog - WSJ.comFor Sandy and Others, Madoff Customer List Eviscerates Privacy
By Dan Slater

Customers of Bernie Madoff might prefer to keep their status private, and perhaps just as soon forget it altogether.
But a filing made yesterday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court will make that difficult — at least for many Madoff customers. From Flatbush great Sandy Koufax to Mets owner Fred Wilpon, the 162-page filing reveals the names of thousands of customers of the alleged Ponzi schemer. The list contains names and addresses, but not the amounts invested. Click here for the WSJ story.
Other alleged customers on the list include Madoff’s outside auditors, Jerome Horowitz and David Friehling; Madoff’s sons, Mark and Andrew, and his brother, Peter; New York developer Larry Silverstein; and financial institutions such as HSBC, UBS, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Bank of America, BNP Paribas and Citigroup.
Also filed yesterday was an 11-page list of vendors. In addition to The Wall Street Journal, Ess-a-bagel, the American Bar Association, Crunch Fitness and the Minnesota Wild hockey team, there are several law firms on the list, including Fish & Richardson; Foley & Lardner; Gardere Wynne Sewell; Katten Muchin Rosenman; White & Case; and WilmerHale.
