History in the Making

The news this weekend has been dominated by the upcoming, historic, presidential inauguration of Barack Obama. For some reason, I think that this picture in particular seems to capture the enormity of the moment more than any other image that has come out of the pre-inaugural celebrations thus far:

There is just something truly remarkable about the image of the US's first African American President standing in the shadow of Abe Lincoln that really hits home just how significant this election was, and how much of a milestone January 20, 2009 will be.
