Structured Settlement Credo - 2

By Patrick Hindert

ADVERTISEMENTS

If the structured settlement industry is "transitioning", what exactly is changing and why?

Causes of industry transition:

  • Internet technologies - their impact on business models, strategies and skill set requirements.
  • Legislation and regulations - the secondary market; Medicare; Medicaid; and 468B;
  • Financial meltdown - the impact on AIG, J.G. Wentworth and others.
  • New U.S. President - more expected legislative and regulatory change.
  • Aging industry leadership - the need for a new generation of younger and smarter industry leaders.

How will the industry transition impact:

  • Credo
  • Ethics
  • Values
  • Standards
  • Public policy?

When and where will those "transition" issues be addressed?

If adaptability is critical for survival, is the structured settlement industry prepared to discuss and/or change its credo?
