: Des Moines Personal Injury LawyerDiet Safety: Marked "safe" - but is it really?
By Megan Roth
Most of us have a general knowledge of diet pills. We don’t all know the specifics as to why, how and when they work; however, most know that many such pills contain caffeine-like stimulants that hype users’ systems into overdrive, increasing not only their metabolisms but also their digestive, nervous and circulatory systems.
In turn, the increase in system activity can lead users to develop high blood pressure and rapid heart beat; thus, increasing their odds of suffering from a heart attack or stroke (not to mention the various other health problems that stem from these two conditions).
Like I said, it’s common knowledge that diet pills can have serious adverse effects on consumers. But what about diet pill alternatives?
What about the all-natural over-the-counter medications that are used in an attempt to drop the weight without losing the rest of your health?
Diet Rx is one such medication. The pill is an herbal appetite suppressant is free of added caffeine, ephedra and other similar stimulants. Thus, the pill claims that it reduces appetite without increasing feelings of anxiety or nervousness. It also claims to be a mood booster and that it actually increases the antioxidant level of your body (thus providing more energy without that ‘stimulant feeling’). Other Diet-Rx claims? Increased metabolism and increased concentration and alertness.
Wow, those are so pretty lofty claims. But do users agree?
Evidently, as numerous users attest to its claims. Okay, so we believe that the pill works in terms of causing weight loss without the jitters. But is it really safe to believe the lack of caffeine and other stimulants means the use of this pill comes without consequence?
The diet supplement is comprised of a mix of 25 herbal ingredients. And, though no major side effects have been reported as of yet, it’s important to be leery anytime supplements and other herbs are consumed. Though they’re generally considered safe (even beneficial), their effects vary by individual. However, like anything else, each herb and supplement has the potential to cause a variety of adverse interactions and side effects amongst users (for example, previously unallergies often come into play).
So though Diet-Rx is considered ‘safe’, it may have adverse side effects on a number of its users. Thus, it’s possible for you may sustain physical injury from such medications. In the event that this should occur, contact the Lombardi Law Firm for assistance.
