Nebraska's Lethal Injection Legislation

"Lethal injection to face fight," is Paul Hammel's report in today's Omaha World-Herald.An Omaha lawmaker said Thursday there's plenty of fight left among death penalty opponents, even if their champion is gone. "I will debate it to the end," said State Sen. Brenda Council of Omaha, a lawyer who said death sentences are inconsistent and discriminatory. She has succeeded Ernie Chambers, the Legislature's fiercest opponent of capital punishment. Chambers was forced out by term limits. Council said she would introduce legislation to ban capital punishment and fight a bill to adopt lethal injection as the state's method of execution. Gov.
