: Wicked WordsThe "Big" Help
ADVERTISEMENTS
The Boston Globe has this "Big Help" section every year that is supposedly the best Help Wanted Section of the year. In past years, I remember it being over 100 pages of broadsheet classifieds, definitely one of the most important job hunting resources in Boston each year. This year they've skipped broadsheet for 10" x 12" sheets, only a little over 50 of them. There are seven legal jobs advertised. Of the seven, six are secretarial positions. One is a receptionist position. I know that most legal opportunities aren't listed in the newspaper, but I still think it is rather shocking, even given the tough market. The legal recruiters have completely saturated the market, adding unnecessary middleman costs to the process.
These recruiters (instead of the actual firm) are able to best decide what an individual firm's needs are? Okay.
I don't know. It's been written about before, but it's still a sad state of affairs.
