My family, for the most part, it fairly technologically savvy. My Grandparents have matching tiny Nokia phones. When my Grandmother had emergency surgery last year I received a text message telling me the news, sent from Grandpa's phone. My parents both have iPhones, and type text messages on the twee little keyboards. My entire family has flat screen tv's and often discuss the virtues of LCD versus plasma screens. My grandparents just got a Blu Ray DVD player and are planning to convert all of their old LP's into files to put on their new iPods. My Grandmother has two laptops, one to run Linux & one to run Windows. See what I mean?
But sometimes, the age difference pops up. Like the fact that some of the older members of my family send 9,000,000 forwards a day, everything from "Jane Fonda is an Evil Traitor!" to explaining the 20 fabulous uses for Bounce dryer sheets. Or the fact that my parents sometimes call me to help them "fix" their iPhones....or have their friends call me asking me to help them download a new iPhone application.
Today, however hit a new mark. My whole family is big on e-mail communication & I received a doozy from my Grandmother. Let me sum it up for you:
"So what are you doing other than looking for a job? Well, since you are not doing much why don't you plan your wedding & get married this spring? Excellent use of your down-time!"
Someone take the technology away from the crazy lady who apparently thinks that the only thing holding me back from getting married is the time commitment of planning the wedding.
My reply options are as follows...please advise:
A: "Haha, you are so funny!"
B: "I was planning on getting engaged first."
C: "Spring sounds wonderful...of course I was thinking spring, 2012."
D: Silence. Pure silence.
