Great Way to End a Day

Anderson (now 17 months old!) has been in daddy-mode quite a lot lately. It used to be that dad was for playtime and mom was for naptime.

It seems that may be changing.

A couple times this week, he's been very upset when I leave the room at bedtime. He doesn't want to get up and play, he just wants me there. It's a new thing, and I've been a little annoyed about it because it's very hard to drag myself back out of bed to get anything else done that night. Since most of my homework is done after the little rugrat falls asleep, you can imagine the trouble this causes.

Last night was another night like that, and I decided to just go to bed at the same time. Anderson was drifting and out of sleep when he abruptly rolled over against me and grabbed my face.

"Luh goo dada." (translation: "love you, daddy")

Then he rolled back over and fell asleep.

Any shred of annoyance I had about my schedule getting interrupted was gone, gone, gone. It's one of the best endings to a day I've ever had.
