: Recording Industry vs The PeopleTax deductible contributions to Expert Witness Defense Fund
By Ty Rogers and Ray Beckerman
Reminder that an excellent place for a tax-deductible contribution would be the Expert Witness Defense Fund administered by the Free Software Foundation:
This fund exists for the purpose of aiding victims of the RIAA's litigation campaign by helping to pay for technical experts and consultants. The fund provided assistance in UMG v. Lindor, where the excellent expert witness report of Prof. Johan Pouwelse was produced.
Here is an updated report of where the fund stands:
As of April 11, 2008:
55 credit card donations $3713.02
100 paypal donations $3312.00
3 check donations $225.00
Total $7250.02
Expenditures:
$2046.92 Expert witness
$750.00 Technical consultant
Total: $2796.92
Since then we have received only 10 donations totaling $275.
That gives us an available balance of $4728.10
