I am so sorry I went MIA with little explanation. I was thinking about this little corner of the internet while I was on vacation, and keeping my fingers crossed y'all wouldn't be too mad I was late coming with the recipes. I also thought about throwing caution to the wind and posting from BISMOW's parent's house...and then I thought about his mother discovering the URL for this place, and reading it. She's still angry that I have a book club on the internet and won't let her join, so I decided I should keep it safe and take a blogging vacation. Recipes to come this week.

But now I'm back. (I know, I know. You are so happy.)

My vacation was lovely, albeit new with my first Christmas away from home. In addition to remembering the reason for the season (and my first ever Catholic Christmas Eve service, which is quite different from my typical Presbyterian one) I got quite a few surprising & fun gifts.

In no particular order:

Most Surprising: The Blu Ray DVD player my parents sent for BISMOW and myself to enjoy

Most Thoughtful: BISMOW bought me a pair of Cole Haan gloves. They feel like butter & are pieces of art in themselves.

Most Unique: My custom Vineyard Vines tote bag from BISMOW

Most, Erm, WHAT?: The lingerie-negligee-ish camisole from BISMOW's mother. Apparently it is family tradition to get some sort of skivvies in the toe of your stocking. I only wish mine hadn't been so risque.

Most Practical Yet Fun: Paisley rainboot/wellies from Mama Duke. Finally...keeping my suit pants dry in style.

So in the spirit of a Monday Morning Readers poll, how did you guys fare with your Hanukkah/Christmas/Holiday loot? Most wonderful? Most eyebrow raising? Most surprising?
