I Don't Like Mondays

ADVERTISEMENTS
I'm here with news I never thought I would write. Or share. Or have to deal with.

Today I was let go by my firm.

I'm not going to get into the messy details other than to say I think it was unfair, but um, not much I can do. Everything happens for a reason and other than my increasing worry over keeping the heat on, I am repeating a mantra to myself that everything happens for a reason. I have yet to find that reason, but I have a resume, one hell of a stack of writing samples, and a closet of appropriate office wear. I also have experience as a waitress and working retail and I know what it means to pay for private health insurance. I certainly don't want to be in this boat (although with my current financial situation, perhaps we should refer to it as a small dinghy, with a shark bite on one rapidly deflating side and no paddle....) but I'm going to just have to do what I can. That is all I can do.

Now I'm putting ice on my eyes so I can look presentable at lunch with a generous man who is highly respected in Chicago's legal community who wants to look at my resume.

Tonight I'm drinking margaritas. Namby Pamby, PAG, Grace, the Alleged Lady, BISMOW and the Artful Blogger- you'd better be there.

After all, y'all are paying.
