: Legally Blonde AmbitionIs It Friday Yet?

ADVERTISEMENTS
So much & yet so little has been going on. I'm almost done with all of my holiday shopping (The Artful Blogger is proving especially difficult to find something for as he has everything & buys whatever he wants when he feels like it, thus leaving the element of SURPRISE to pure chance) and I just need to ship a few more things off before I can relax on the couch for a few moments before I start my holiday baking. I have to make my sinfully delicious Christmas Bark (and you thought Williams Sonoma's peppermint bark was good.....) and probably some pies & bread before I can really rest and consider the holiday perfect-o. Work is work, some days are great, others are awful. Something to be said about change being good but transitions being difficult I think.... but this week I realized maybe other people were having a worse week than me. I was over in Federal Court (yup the same one our illustrious Governor had to appear at for a quick little bond hearing) when I watched a judge take a lawyer down to negative nine zillion on the old notch system. I present, "You Know It Is A Bad Day When A Federal Judge Tells You":
"Counsel, to say you have dropped the ball on this case is an understatement. I'm going to to dismiss your case for want of prosecution. You haven't dropped the ball. You dropped the ball and it rolled away, languishing for days in the tall grass, deflating, until the groundskeeper came and picked the deflated ball up, carried it around and eventually locked it in the utility closet for an entire summer while it deflated to smelly rubber. It isn't a ball anymore. It is nothing. THAT is the equivalent of your handling of this matter. Do you understand me?"
This is also known as tactic number 1003 on the list of how to make a room full of lawyers squirm, right after an ethics exam (number 1004) and right before forcing them to tell the truth in politics (number 1005).
I kid. I kid. Only if your last name is Blagojevich.
(Tomorrow lets discuss Christmas Bark - minimal ingredients with an impressive end result- and The Saga of My Stomach, with maximum drama and lame end results.)
