: ACS BlogStudy Shows Women Deprived of Significant Income Over Careers
A new study from the Center for American Progress Action Fund finds a significant “career wage gap” between women and men. “Unfortunately, even in the absence of intentional discrimination, most women in this country also are likely to lose substantial amounts of income due to something we at Center for American Progress Action Fund have termed the ‘career wage gap,’” the organization stated in a summary of the report, “Lifetime Losses: The Career Wage Gap.” According to the report, the career wage gap shows an estimate “for lost wages over a lifetime of work.” For example, the study finds that, “Women with a college education degree or higher lose $713,000 over a 40-year period versus a $270,000 loss for women who did not finish high school.”
